Laura & Greig's Wedding in the Glasshouse Hotel, Edinburgh

When Laura was planning her wedding she had ideas of quite a contemporary wedding. She had booked the The Glasshouse Hotel Edinburgh for the ceremony and reception and it's a lovely modern Wedding Venue just at the foot of Carlton Hill.

Laura went for a long length bodice, with a lace overlay, it had a boned bodice with internal lace up and lots of structure and boning. She had the lace overlay coming up over the bodice and sitting directly on her skin on a halter neck neckline. The skirt was many layers of tulle in different weights and levels of stiffness. The top layer netting was a very fine veil. netting. Laura had working silk covered buttons and loops down the back.

Laura decided on a short veil with a fine edging.

Laura had put a lot of thought into her wedding details, she had flowers from Lilypad Flowers and a friend of the shop Barbara Taylor who is a freelance make-up artist working from Space NK  did her make up for her and all her bridesmaids. Cheynes Hairdressing did hair for all bridesmaids and for Laura.  And Liggy's Cakes made the cake for the wedding.

I really like the finished product, and it was lovely to work with Laura as she took interest in choosing few but sophisticated and lovely details which completed her stylish wedding.

The wedding was beautifully captured by Edinburgh Wedding Photographer Photo by Moon Photography, who so kindly let us use her photographs for the blog post!

Drumtochty Castle and Vintage Bridesmaids Dresses

Keri-Ann had a whole folder with images of Vintage details she would like to include in her wedding preparations. It was much fun as it was apparent that both Keri-Ann and her 2 bridesmaids had given a lot of thought to what they wanted to wear on the day, and the whole theme of the wedding was to be enhanced with the bridesmaids dresses.
I really really like the final result. the bridesmaids dresses were made in a duchesse satin overlayed with a chiffon changeant, the dresses had a pearl detail on the waist. The girls had silk douppion bolero jackets with a small stand up shawl collar, to go with the dresses.
The wedding couldn't have been in a  more stunning setting at Drumtochty Castle, and Blue Sky Photography took the lovely photographs.

Susi & Paul's Wedding at The Hub, Edinburgh

Susi came to see us last year, she had decided to have her dress made for different reasons, one being she is around 5 foot tall and she had tried a lot of dresses on which absolutely drowned her and she couldn't get a feel for how the real dress would be when it had a whole foot cut off.  But she also wanted a dress which was truly hers and that she had been much more part of the process of making it.

Susi tells me she now feels her dress has its own story with all the conversations and decisions we made along the route to her perfect dress.

Susi had princess style dress, it had motifs with beading on attached close together on the bodice and then less and less down her skirt. She had an internal corset, and buttons and loops at the back. The dress had many layers of netting in different weights. The top layer of the dress was made in the finest netting the same netting as is used for veils.

It was a very fun wedding to be part of, not only was it in The Hub, Edinburgh, which we love, Susi had hair and make up from our friends Rosie Fraser Make-up and Charlene Princess Cut Bridal Hair.

After her wedding i was told how special it was to walk up the royal mile in her wedding dress with her dad and her sister and niece and all the tourists were cheering on them and wishing her good luck.

We were fortunate enough that Susi agreed to be one of our models after her wedding, and she truly rocked the catwalk at the wedding show in Edinburgh Botanics Fashion Show

Sheer wedding dress bodice, with thai silk skirt

Monica, came to see us about her wedding dress when we were in the old shop,.. then we moved.. and then suddenly Monica moved to the Far East, we got her dress nearly ready in the couple of weeks we had on our hands before she was moving, and then left the rest of the work till the week before the wedding, when she would be back in the UK.
Monica had great ideas about a "lingerie" style wedding dress, no bling.. just exclusive fabrics, and fine details in mix of fabrics and textures.
The skirt was made in thai silk and the bodice was in a corded lace with backing in silk organza and silk chiffon. The two fine layers of silk, still made the lace slightly transparent and the bodice bones and under wired cups gave some support and detail.
Monica went for a silk veil and a silk veiling "cover-up" it worked really well it attached on to a belt, and the dress had a different belt for night time to change the dress to an evening look.
Monica's family travelled from all over the world and the Balmoral hotel made it very special for them all, Balmoral Hotel is a great venue, and we are very pleased to be on their preferred suppliers list.
Monica's Make up was done by Kimberley Dewar and her hair by Christina at Conolly Hair flowers were by her new inlaws, Banks Florist The lovely photographs were taken by Sarah Morgan at Morgan & Rose Photography We are so pleased to be able to share them with you.

Emma, going for gold!

Emma had plans for her wedding to be a small intimate affair, only the closest people from her friends and family. The wedding was at the Registry office on the Royal Mile, a gorgeous meal at Angels with Bagpipes, and at night time.. lots and lots of dancing.
Emma had decided for a short dress. She originally brought in her favorite "party-dress" and we looked at things she liked about that, and changed some details and that was the starting point for Emma's Wedding dress. We made her dress in a silk douppion, the skirt is a true circle, and she had a silk satin gold ruched belt on her waist and empire line. We made her a fixed bow with long sashes hanging down at the back. The mix of the 2 textures worked really well together.

Emma's lovely Bouquet and Dave's Button hole was made by the Urban Florist

It was lovely to work with Emma, and it is fun to do weddings with different views and demands on the outfit, this keeps us on our toes, and continue to develop new ideas and styles. The addition of the colour was bang on the current trend.
