Debbie's Cowl-neck wedding dress at Dundas Castle

Debbie came into Freja with a few simple wedding dress ideas, and ended up going for something a bit more extravagant as her ideas grew and grew!

She finally opted for a beautiful silk satin dress with a train, front and back cowl neck and crystal embellishment on her waist, a very similar style to one we had created for the Drumlanrig shoot!

She looked absolutely stunning, complemented by her accessories from Corrine Smith Design, flowers from Planet Flowers, make-up by Lucy Gourlay and hair done by Keith Marshall.

Debbie was so lovely to work with! She had lost a lot of weight before her wedding and it was so wonderful to help her celebrate her lovely figure in a slinky and elegant dress.

Dundas castle was the perfect venue for Debbie and Allan's big day, and was beautifully captured by Allan and Jackie at Rankine photography!

Pink Wedding Dress for Winton House

Kristy was such a good fun no work with… she had been recommended to come and see us from Blue Sky Photography. Kirsty has a degree in costume design, and alltough she does not work today with her costume degree, it is clear to see she has a lot of artistic flair and design skills she use in her work.

Kirsty had given a lot of thought to her dress, she brought in an amazing drawing and had a little scrap book with details and period features and things she wanted involved in her dress…. We LOVED it all and we were so so keen to get to work with Kirsty on this project.

We discussed Kirsty’s technical requirements of the dress, and we got to work. We sourced very fine pink silk chiffon with matching silk satin. The colour is called Peach Melba, and it is a pink, but it has a shade of peach to it, the colour suited her perfectly…. Next problem… how do we get a matching lace? Well I managed to dye it in my little alchemist kitchen, the colour turned out a very good match, in fact, it turned out quite 3 dimensional as the treads of the lace had different fiber content, which absorbed the colour differently.. We thought it made it very nice.

Then Kirsty asked for beading, and we sourced the same beading as was in her head dress, from Rene Walrus this was a mix of different shades of Swarovski pearls, crystals and beads… it took a while.

The dress had internal corset and internal lace up, and even though it looks like a very fine and light dress, which it is, but it has very many layers to blog out transparency and lines of the different internal layers. The dress had a detachable train at the back.

There was a small train on the dress also, which came up for the evening.

We loved being part of this wedding at Winton House Blue Sky photographed it all so well. if you would like to read more, have a look here Bluesky Photography Blog

All the best to Kirsty and Adam.

Fashion Show at the Wedding Fayre Edinburgh Botanics

On Sunday the 23rd of September we had the great honour of being invited to the Wedding Fayre at the Edinburgh Royal Botanic Gardens. We had to entertain the crowds with a fashion show. Well what better way of doing it than asking a couple of our brides from this year to wear their dresses again? They all jumped at the opportunity, even when they were told to be in Hair and Make-up by 8 am Sunday morning.

We had 4 brides there and on top of that Veronica our house model helped us out, she went in and out of the catwalk 4 times what a super achievement to get her changed and ready for each entry.

The Kim McGregor Hair Salon in Stockbridge did a wonderful job with hair and make up, and then Planet Flowers had supplied lovely bouquets for the girls to carry, all the accessories for the show was the brides own.

The wedding fayre was so so busy and we recon watched by over 300 people. We had such a fun time and I can't begin to thank Veronika, the brides Susi, Anna, Sam and Amy along with Kasia the superfast dresser…thanks also to Kim Mcgregor hair and Planet flowers and all the staff at Botanics for this opportunity. Our lovely junior Tanya Dixon has taken photographs on the day….Enjoy!

Lynda & Rory at Lennoxlove

Lynda has been a lovely bride to work with. She had firm ideas of what she wanted.. minimum bling... maximum sophistication.. I think you she looks so stunning on her wedding pictures from LennoxLove .
Lynda went for a heavy duchesse silk satin dress in dark ivory. She had ruching detail on the front and off the shoulder neckline. The back was decorated with... 115 silk covered buttons and loops. Her dress had an internal corset.
Lynda had a 2 tier cathedral silk veil, with a guipure lace edging.
We also made Lynda’s bridesmaids dresses, she had 2 bridesmaids, her sister Jodie and niece Emily. The bridesmaids dresses were made in a champagne coloured Orissa silk with ivory silk satin belt and bow at the back. The bridesmaids also had ivory silk covered buttons at the back to mirror the detail on Lynda’s dress.
Lynda had her hair done by Gwen at McKenzie Hair Design and her make up by Lynne Mills at EyeCandy.
The lovely pictures has been taken by Epic Private and we are very happy to have the opportunity to show you them.
