Vintage inspired city wedding at The Dome, Edinburgh

Melody has such a lot of style. She had really good ideas for her soft vintage wedding, and we were desperate to make her dress for her.

She went for a soft wedding dress with a soft Chantilly lace for the sleeves and beaded belt which was a gift passed on from her friend. We also made her a veil with a scallop lace edge to finish off her vintage look.

Melody made such amazing research to get everything just right, and we were delighted when she got in touch with Kate (also a friend of Freja Designer Dressmaking) the wedding organiser at The Dome, Edinburgh.com, and booked her wedding to be there.

Melody's handpicked suppliers were a photographer friend Simon, who photographed the wedding.  Her flowers were done by Rose and Ammi Flowers

Wedding cake was by Special Days Cakes

And obviously the venue was the spectacular The Dome, Edinburgh

It was a pleasure working with you Melody, and everything looks amazing and perfect... well done for your planing.

Thank you to Simon Forsyth Photography, who took the photographs and let us show them off!

Civil Partnership at Tynninghame Beach

Michelle and Jen had a gorgeous wedding at Ravensheugh Beach Log Cabins, at TynninghameRavensheugh. They hired an additional Highland Tipis to have room for all their guests.

They had made all lovely and personal arrangements for their big day, and a good friend Debs, Chef at Under The Stairs, Edinburgh was to cook on a giant BBQ for all their guests.

Jen had early on decided she wanted to wear a dress, which she got from a pre-loved website, and set off to Glasgow to buy an Ian Stuart dress,  but Michelle did not want a dress neither the traditional "suit" so she had some ideas for a much more feminine trouser look

We made Michelle a lace top over a boned sweet heart neckline bodice with buttons down the back, and some soft satin Harem trousers with buttons on the cuffs, then a big oversize organza belt ruched on the hips and tied in a big oversize bow at the back.

Jen and Michelle stayed in the Tigerlily, Edinburgh the night before and got ready there with hair and make up with assistance from Miss DixieBelle then got a VW bus from classic camper holidays to the beach on their wedding day where Piper Louise from Pipe For Scotland received them, and added some very personal touches for friends and family.

Michelle's Nephew was Best Man, Jen's Daughter and Michelle's Niece was bridesmaids, and the little Nephew was ring bearer.

It is so lovely to work with such a personal brief, and to work with celebrations with less set rules on how everything should be.. we feel they got their perfect person wedding day.. Congratulations!

Muscari blue spring wedding in Edinburgh Botanics

Sophie has a beautiful almost elfin look about her. I was delighted to be asked to make her dress and i knew straight away it had to be something that would not over whelm her fine features.

I suggested a heavy guipure lace, cut very fitted over a sweet heart neckline silk bodice with internal lace up and covered silk buttons. she had a fairly fitted heavy silk crepe skirt with a full circle skirt in fine french silk chiffon overlay.

Sophie's favorite colour was represented by a cornflower blue ruched silk chiffon belt with hand made roses and sashes at the back.

The wedding was a lovely family affair in the Edinburgh Royal Botanic Gardens. The grooms family came from Asia and Australia and Edinburgh showed its wonderful best sides.  The flowers were done by Planet Flowers, Lucy Gourlay from LG Make-up did Sophie's make up, and Ryan White Photography took the lovely photographs, and kindly supplied us with them.

Sophie and Albert will have another wedding celebration in Taiwan and one in Australia, i am so pleased Sophie will wear her dress again, she has had the train cut off, and she dyed her wedding shoes the lovely cornflower blue and the dress is fit for a less formal occasion in a hotter climate.

It was a pleasure making Sophie's dress and delighted to get to work with some of my favorite industry friends again.

Marquee wedding in Biggar

So many of our brides come to us through recommendations, So did Beatrice.

She had clear idea of what she wanted for her wedding dress: sleeves, cowl neck, low back, buttons, and a little train.
We put the elements together and helped her chose the fabric and we added a bit of embellishment. The beautiful veil was a family heirloom.

The result was lovely, simple and sophisticated.

The wedding was to be held at in the west of Scotland, in marquee by Langlees House in Biggar, Beatrice's Great Aunt's house.

Beatrice, also asked us to make one of her flower girls dresses. it was a lovely and and unusual task to get. Her family had one lovely very old dress in pristine condition, for the youngest flower girl and then another was only the skirt, but needed a lot of repair work. We are pleased with the result, we managed to re-create dress number 2 with old pillow cases, which had "aged" the same as the original dress.
Both flower girls looked so sweet and pretty with their crowns.

It was an absolute pleasure and much fun to work with Beatrice, we are so happy your friends documented the day so we could show off the happy bride (and her dress) and groom.
